Both are iPhone ski-tracking apps. The short version: Slopes puts its per-run analytics, 3D maps and replay behind a Premium subscription; everything comparable in Alpy is free — and Alpy adds things Slopes doesn’t list at any price. Slopes is genuinely better at some things too; they’re at the bottom, because a comparison that concedes nothing isn’t worth your trust. (Checked against Slopes’ App Store listing, October 2026.)
| Alpy (free, all of it) | Slopes | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free. No premium tier, no account, no ads | Free core; per-run analytics, interactive maps, fitness insights need a Premium subscription |
| Per-run metrics | Time, drop, top/avg speed, estimated turns, course, airtime — free | Per-run performance analytics is a Premium feature |
| Racing yourself | Personal records on every named run, “−0:17 vs best” verdicts, race chart overlaying today vs your fastest | Best-run highlights (Premium); no attempt-vs-attempt race chart listed |
| Powder alerts | Background alerts when fresh snow crosses your threshold | Not listed |
| Avalanche | Official SLF + avalanche.org bulletins, honest “no bulletin” state | Not listed |
| AI | On-device Apple Intelligence morning report and day summary — no cloud, no keys | None |
| Trail maps | OSM schematic chart + 3D view, free, live position while tracking; 3,652 OSM ski areas searchable | Licensed interactive maps for 2,000+ resorts — Premium |
| Day replay | Your line scrubbed across 3D terrain — free | Tied to Premium maps |
| Privacy | No server exists: GPS, motion and history never leave the phone | Privacy-focused policy; friends/trips/sync run through their backend |
If those matter most to you, use Slopes — it’s a fine app. If you want the full instrument panel free, private and honest about its estimates, that’s Alpy.
