Alpy — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
Alpy (formerly Alpine) is built to collect nothing.
What the app stores
- Your rider profile (height, weight, ability, style), resort list and
unit preference are saved as a small file on your device only. They never
leave it.
- GPS ski-day tracks (the Day Tracker and Day Replay features) are
recorded only while you have tracking switched on, and are written only to
the app’s private storage on your device. They are never uploaded — there is
no server to upload them to.
- Condition snapshots, trail maps and guides are cached on your device so
the app works offline.
- The AI morning report, when written by Apple Intelligence, is generated
entirely on your device by Apple’s on-device model. Nothing is sent
anywhere.
- Health data (optional): if you tap “Read from Health” on a ski day’s
debrief, Alpy asks Apple Health for read-only access to heart rate and
active energy, to show effort per run. These numbers are displayed on
your device and never stored by Alpy or transmitted anywhere. Alpy never
writes to Health.
What the app does NOT do
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers.
- No accounts, no sign-in, no server of ours — the app has no backend.
- No personal data is collected, sold, or shared. There is nothing to sell.
Network requests the app makes
To show live conditions, the app contacts these services directly from your
device: Open-Meteo (weather), WSL Institute SLF and Avalanche.org (avalanche
bulletins), OpenStreetMap’s Overpass API (trail geometry), and the public
RSS feeds of gear publications. Requests contain resort coordinates, never
your identity. All AI runs on your device — the app sends nothing to any
AI service. Each service’s own privacy policy governs its handling of requests.
